Admissions Requirements: Trauma Informed Therapeutic Arts Practitioner Program
Level 1 and Level 2
Applicants must complete Mindfulness Based Creative Arts Foundations and Trauma Informed Ways of Being before applying to the certification program. Exemptions may be made by petitioning for a waiver through showing documentation of completed CEU's, courses, workshops and practices in mindfulness, expressive arts therapy and trauma informed practices. Individual courses offered in the Mindfulness Based Creative Arts Foundations and Trauma Informed Ways of Being programs may be required to be completed prior to admission to the therapeutic arts program.
Applicants must additionally demonstrate and complete the following:
Complete an application for the program.
Demonstrate completion of a minimum of a high school diploma and a summary of any mental, behavioral health or classroom management courses/practices they are trained in.
Have access to art, music and writing materials, a computer, laptop, Chromebook or smartphone,accessibility to Zoom, Facetime or Skype
Complete a personal essay discussing what draws them to the program, their intended use of the skills learned, their personal mindfulness practice (or desire to develop one), a brief summary of their background with psychology, mindfulness and trauma practices, their experience with art, music, writing or performance and how they plan on completing the required practicum in their community.
A current resume.
All applicants will be run through the National Sex Offender Database.
Applications will begin being accepted in March 2020 for the level 1 program.
